PTO Organizational Structure

LaVerna Evans' PTO membership includes parents and faculty members with a wide variety of talents and interests, creating diversity that adds to the strength and creativity of the organizations. The minimal $5 membership fee helps cover administrative costs.
Our organization has a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. It also has teacher representatives. These individuals are responsible for organizing, meeting and communicating with the school's administration. Each PTO activity/project has a chairperson. The chairpeople report progress during the monthly PTO meetings and also via the monthly PTO newsletter. The Executive Committee is comprised of the officers, chairpeople and school representatives. This group meets to transact business between meetings and to oversee budgeted expenditures.
Aside from this loose structure, there is no hierarchy in our group. Each individual has equal input into the organization's decisions. PTO meetings are held monthly with financial reports and business matters discussed. Meetings may include guest speakers or special events.
Volunteers are needed for all events--it's a great way to meet other parents and teachers!
