PTO Projects and Events
September 23, 2008
These events may vary somewhat, but the following are events the PTO supports annually.
|
Fall Fundraiser This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, which takes place shortly after school begins. Students receive a brochure containing available items for sale and take orders from family and friends. |
Fall Fun Fair The Fall Fun Fair is traditionally on a Friday in October and provides an opportunity for families and friends to enjoy an evening together. There are games, activities and food for everyone to enjoy! |
|
Book Fairs Books are available for purchase by students and parents for a week in the library. This is a great opportunity to purchase books that teachers may request for their classroom as well. There will be one evening where parents can come and purchase books if they cannot make it in during the school hours. |
Room Parties Three parties occur throughout the year. Room parents from each class get together to synchronize their activities for that day. This is a great opportunity for the children to socialize and have fun. Our chairperson contacts the volunteers shortly after school begins. |
|
Holiday Shop We set up a store for children to shop for inexpensive gifts for their family members. This event takes place shortly before the holiday break in December. The kids really enjoy this! |
Ice Cream Social and Art Walk Student art is displayed around the school and students get an opportunity to show what they've learned in music by performing for family and friends. The PTO provides ice cream and sundae toppings. This event is held in conjunction with the Spring Book Fair. All of this adds up to a fun and delicious evening. |
|
Earth Day Students bring in flowers and get to plant them in the flowerbeds in front of the school. Celebrating Earth Day is a big event for us. |
Staff Appreciation Luncheon We say "Thank You" to teachers, faculty, and staff by serving a catered lunch in the library. |
|
Membership Everyone is invited to join the PTO for a nominal family membership fee of $5 per year. The membership committee collects dues and maintains a list of members while coming up with new and innovative ways to inspire parents and teachers to join our PTO. |
Box Tops for Education This is a great way for the students to help their school. Save all those General Mills Box Tops--every little bit helps!
Campbell's Labels for Education
We collect labels to purchase
classroom and school equipment! |
|
Bulletin Board This volunteer maintains the bulletin board across from the main office. It may contain items for seasonal holidays or alert parents of different functions that occur within the school or PTO.
Family Reading Night This is a night of fun for the entire family. We celebrate reading with several guest storytellers, games, crafts, and snacks. |
Scrip The PTO sells "scrip" which is basically gift certificates to a variety of locally based merchants. Rather than paying money at the merchant, you buy a gift certificate from us, then use the gift certificate at the merchant. You pay $20 and you get $20 to spend. You pay nothing extra, but the merchant returns a small percentage to us so we earn some "free" money. The percentage received varies by merchant. |
|
Get Smart with Art One day each month a parent volunteer will come into the classroom for 30-45 minutes to present a lesson on the life of a famous artist and to discuss one painting by that artist.. The volunteer then leads students in making an art project representative of that artist's style. |
Fifth Grade Breakfast This is a "graduation from Evans" party for our fifth graders. They have one last chance to enjoy each other and the school before moving on to Marie Schaefer. |
